The event, centered on the Border Gateway Protocol (BGP), was observed from 08:25 UTC on August 21 through 00:30 UTC on September 1. The BGP control plane signal recorded a severity score of 17,873 during the event.

The disruption lasted for approximately 10.7 days. The primary affected signal was BGP, which governs the exchange of routing information between networks. The BGP visibility metric remained at a constant level of 2,806 visible prefixes throughout the observation period, showing no net change from its peak.
Other network health indicators showed varying degrees of impact. The gtr-norm signal, a measure of traffic flow deviation from a forecast baseline, averaged 0.85, representing a 27% drop from its observed peak. The merit-nt backscatter measurement, an aggregate connectivity proxy, averaged 26.02, a 34% decline from its peak. The ping-slash24 signal, measuring ICMP reachability across IPv4 address blocks, showed a more modest 5% drop from its peak, averaging 911.72 responsive blocks.
The cause has not been publicly attributed.
The disruption was resolved by the end of the observation window on September 1.
