Chad experienced a brief disruption to its internet routing infrastructure on Sunday, July 13, 2026. The event, which lasted approximately one hour, primarily affected the Border Gateway Protocol (BGP) control plane, a key system for directing traffic across networks. Other connectivity metrics remained largely stable throughout the observation period.

Technical Details

The disruption to BGP visibility occurred between 09:00 and 10:10 UTC. The event registered a severity score of 318 based on the observed degradation in the BGP signal, which measures the stability of routing announcements for the country’s IP address prefixes.

Concurrently, active probing of IPv4 address blocks showed a minor 15% reduction in reachability. Measurements of normalized traffic volume also indicated a 67% drop from its peak. However, other key signals, including raw traffic volume and backscatter measurements, showed no significant deviation from their expected baselines during the event window.

The cause has not been publicly attributed.

Routing and connectivity were reported restored following the one-hour disruption.
