Côte d’Ivoire experienced a significant, prolonged degradation in internet connectivity beginning on August 4 and lasting until August 17. The disruption, which spanned 13 days, was characterized by a major drop in traffic volume and a concurrent reduction in Border Gateway Protocol visibility. The event recorded a total severity score of 232,335,273,660 across affected network signals.

Technical Details

The primary impact was observed in traffic volume, which deviated significantly from its expected baseline, showing a 67% drop from its peak. This signal measures the deviation of observed traffic from a forecasted model. Concurrently, the Border Gateway Protocol signal, which reflects the control-plane visibility of network prefixes, showed a sustained reduction in visibility, contributing a severity score of 295,924. Active probing for ICMP reachability across IPv4 /24 prefixes also showed a measurable degradation, contributing a severity score of 785,118.

The cause has not been publicly attributed. Connectivity was reported restored by the end of the observation period on August 17.
