Gabon experienced a brief degradation in internet connectivity on Monday, August 24, centered around midday UTC. The disruption, which lasted approximately one hour, was most pronounced in active network reachability measurements.

Technical Details

The primary affected signal was ping-slash24, which measures ICMP reachability across IPv4 /24 prefixes. Its severity score for the event was 1,736, with a recorded drop magnitude of 33% from its peak value. The event window was observed between 11:20 and 12:20 UTC.

Other signals showed varying levels of impact. The gtr-norm signal, which tracks normalized traffic volume, recorded a 66% drop from its peak. The merit-nt signal, a backscatter measurement used as an aggregate connectivity proxy, showed a 91% drop. The Border Gateway Protocol (BGP) control plane signal, indicating routing visibility, remained stable with a negligible 0% drop magnitude.

Reported Cause

The cause of the disruption has not been publicly attributed.

Connectivity was reported restored following the one-hour event window.
