Internet connectivity in the Solomon Islands was disrupted for more than three hours, beginning late on August 29. The disruption, which lasted from approximately 21:10 UTC to 00:30 UTC, primarily affected the network’s control plane visibility.

The event recorded a severity score of 389. The primary affected signal was the Border Gateway Protocol (BGP) median, which measures control plane visibility for network prefixes. This signal showed a 2% drop from its peak during the observation window.
Other network health indicators also registered declines. The ping-slash24 signal, which measures ICMP reachability across IPv4 /24 prefixes, fell by 13%. The gtr-norm signal, a forecast deviation from expected traffic baselines, dropped by 70%. The merit-nt signal, a proxy for aggregate connectivity based on backscatter measurements, fell by 100%.
The cause has not been publicly attributed. Connectivity was reported restored by the end of the observation period.
