Thailand experienced a significant degradation in internet connectivity on September 2, lasting nearly three hours. The disruption began at 19:50 UTC and concluded by 22:30 UTC, primarily affecting network reachability across the country.

Technical Details

The event recorded a severity score of 2,076 based on active probing of IPv4 /24 prefixes, a metric that measures ICMP reachability. This signal showed a 20% drop from its peak during the observation window. The degradation occurred in two distinct phases: a one-hour period starting at 19:50 UTC with a severity of 1,472, followed by a 30-minute period starting at 22:00 UTC with a severity of 605. Other network signals, including traffic volume and backscatter measurements, also registered declines of up to 38% from their peaks. The Border Gateway Protocol (BGP) control plane, which manages routing information, remained stable throughout the event.

The cause has not been publicly attributed.

Connectivity was reported restored by the end of the observation period.
