U.S. Virgin Islands Connectivity Disruption Lasted 80 Minutes
The U.S. Virgin Islands experienced a connectivity disruption in the early hours of Sunday, June 1. The event began at approximately 03:10 UTC and lasted for about 80 minutes, concluding by 04:30 UTC. The primary impact was observed in active network reachability.
Technical Details
The disruption registered a severity score of 1,763. The affected ping-slash24 signal, which measures ICMP reachability across IPv4 network prefixes, showed a 33% drop from its peak value during the event. The average reachability fell to 131 points from a maximum of 147.
Other network signals showed varied behavior. The gtr-norm signal, which tracks deviation from an expected traffic baseline, recorded a 62% drop from its peak. The merit-nt signal, a proxy for aggregate connectivity, fell to zero. The BGP control plane, responsible for routing announcements, remained stable with no observed drop.
The cause has not been publicly attributed. Connectivity was reported restored by the end of the observation window.
