Syria experienced a significant internet connectivity degradation on Monday, lasting approximately three and a half hours. The disruption began at 12:40 UTC and concluded by 16:10 UTC. The primary impact was observed in active network reachability measurements across the country.

Technical Details

The event recorded a severity score of 5,485. The most affected signal was ping-slash24, which measures ICMP reachability across IPv4 network prefixes. This signal showed a 20% drop from its peak value during the event.

Other network health indicators also registered declines. The gtr-norm signal, which tracks deviations from expected traffic baselines, fell by 69% from its peak. The merit-nt signal, a proxy for aggregate connectivity, dropped by 43%. The Border Gateway Protocol (BGP) control plane, responsible for routing information, showed a minimal 1% change in visibility.

The cause has not been publicly attributed. Connectivity was reported restored by the end of the observation period.
