Côte d’Ivoire Experiences Brief Connectivity Degradation

alert2blue

Côte d’Ivoire experienced a degradation in internet connectivity early on May 24, 2026. The disruption began at approximately 04:10 UTC and lasted for about 1.8 hours, ending around 06:00 UTC. The event primarily affected the reachability of the country’s IP address space.

Technical Details

The disruption registered a severity score of 2,207. The primary affected metric was the ping-slash24 signal, which measures ICMP reachability across the nation’s IPv4 address prefixes. This signal showed a 14% drop from its peak value during the event.

Other network health indicators showed mixed results. The Border Gateway Protocol (BGP) control plane, responsible for routing information, remained stable with no observed drop. However, the Merit Network Telescope (merit-nt) backscatter signal, a proxy for overall connectivity, recorded a significant 83% drop from its peak. The cause has not been publicly attributed.

Connectivity was reported restored by the end of the observation window.
