Tanzania Experiences Brief Connectivity Disruption

alert2blue

Tanzania experienced a brief but measurable degradation in internet connectivity on Sunday morning. The disruption occurred between 09:00 and 09:30 UTC, primarily affecting the reachability of network prefixes across the country.

Technical Details

The event recorded a severity score of 660. The primary affected metric was the ping-slash24 signal, which measures ICMP reachability across active IPv4 /24 network prefixes. This signal showed a 23% drop from its peak value during the observation window.

Other network telemetry signals showed varying degrees of deviation. The gtr-norm signal, which tracks normalized traffic volume, fell 72% from its peak. The merit-nt signal, a proxy for aggregate connectivity, dropped 68%. Border Gateway Protocol (BGP) control plane visibility saw a more modest 6% decline. The cause has not been publicly attributed.

Connectivity was reported restored within the half-hour observation period.
