Technical Details
The primary signal affected was the Border Gateway Protocol (BGP), which governs how internet traffic is routed between networks. The BGP median signal recorded a severity score of 139 during the event, with a measured drop of 3% from its peak stability. This indicates a reduction in the number of visible network paths.
Concurrently, a key traffic forecast model, gtr.sarima, showed a deviation from its expected baseline. The normalized traffic signal, gtr.norm, recorded a more pronounced drop of 67% from its peak. Active probing for ICMP reachability across IPv4 /24 prefixes, measured by the ping-slash24 signal, also showed a reduction, with a 9% drop from its peak.
The cause has not been publicly attributed. Connectivity was reported restored following the 40-minute disruption.
