Tunisia experienced a significant degradation in internet connectivity beginning on the evening of August 23, 2026. The disruption, which lasted for approximately six hours, was most pronounced in active network reachability measurements. Connectivity was observed returning to normal levels by early morning on August 24.

Technical Details

The primary disruption was recorded between 18:40 UTC on August 23 and 00:30 UTC on August 24, a duration of 5.8 hours. The event registered a severity score of 7,033. The most affected metric was the ping-slash24 signal, which measures ICMP reachability across IPv4 network prefixes. This signal showed a drop in reachable networks during the event period.

Other network telemetry showed varied impacts. The gtr-norm signal, a normalized measure of traffic volume, recorded a 75% drop from its peak. The merit-nt signal, a proxy for aggregate connectivity based on backscatter, showed a 29% decline. Border Gateway Protocol (BGP) control plane visibility, which indicates advertised network routes, remained stable throughout the event. The cause has not been publicly attributed.

The disruption remained ongoing at last observation before restoration.
